The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Students of the Year is an exciting leadership development and philanthropy program in which high school students participate in a fundraising competition to benefit LLS.

Every dollar raised counts as one vote. The candidates/teams who raise the most money at the end of 7 week competition earns the title Student(s) of the Year and a $1,500 scholarship. The program is open to high school students (public or private) in Connecticut and the Westchester and Hudson Valley regions of New York.

For motivated high school students, this program ensures they stand out among their peers when engaging with colleges and/or future employers. Through guidance and mentoring from experienced professionals at LLS, they will make a real impact in the fight against blood cancers.

In addition to the Student(s) of the Year award for the top fundraising team, those students who excel in the areas of mission awareness, volunteerism or community involvement are eligible for recognition via the citizenship awards presented at the Grand Finale celebration.

In 2016, the Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley (CTWHV) Chapter held it's inaugural Students of the Year Program. Four candidate teams comprised of 26 students participated in the program, representing four high schools in the Connecticut and Westchester and Hudson Valley regions of New York. Candidate teams worked hard to raise funds and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) during the fundraising time frame. By the Grand Finale Gala, the student teams had raised nearly $30,000 for LLS!
