Lily was diagnosed with High Risk ALL at the age of 5 on September 15, 2011. She underwent 2.5 years of chemotherapy treatment.  Lily had a hard time with one of her primary chemo treatments which meant that she had to have a different chemo that was put into shots. She had over 100 of these shots in her legs. Lily said this was the worst part of having cancer. Lily was a blonde before she lost her hair, but because of her illness, when her hair did grow back in, it was closer to a brown color. She had over a dozen blood and platelet transfusions.  Lily had to miss a great deal of school and had a homeschool teacher tutor her at the hospital and at home. This time was especially difficult because she couldn't have friends come over to the house for months and couldn't go anywhere if her counts were low. However, Lily is now age 9 and in remission! Lily goes in to check to make sure she is cancer free every 3 months. She attends Wheeler Elementary in Omaha, NE and is in 3rd grade. Her favorite things to do are dance, sing, act, create art, hang out with her friends, and play with her two dogs.
