Meet the Past Winners
Congratulations to our 2018 Students of the Year, Banking on a Cure!
Team Banking on a Cure led by sophomores Hannah Baltimore, Danielle Tauber and Madison Gramm from The Bullis School earned the 2018 National Capital Area's Student of the Year title! These students, along with their incredible team members: Charlotte Helmig, Chris Yazdani, Emma Golden, Skylar Jordan & Sydney Pulliam, worked relentlessly not only for all seven weeks of the campaign but for several months prior to kickoff. These students have made such a difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve!
LLS staff attended an assembly at The Bullis School to present a check to Team Banking on a Cure for their amazing accomplishment this year!
2018 Students of the Year 1st Runner Up, Panthers Against Cancer!
Cori Amsellem, Virginia Asher & Ella Glassman from Holton-Arms School led their team members: Emma Davison, Isabella Capuano, Lucy Walker, Mina Garavi, Sofia Fernandez and Jake Davidson to an extremely successful campaign. "The opportunity to fight for every family affected by blood cancer inspired us to give our all during this campaign" said Cori, Virginia and Ella.
2018 Students of the Year 2nd Runner Up, Team Hardesty!
Sisters from Trinity Christian School, Lindsey and Lauren Hardesty teamed up with their basketball coach, Walter Webb to face the fight against blood cancer head on. "Curing blood cancer will change the world and knowing that we could be a part of that change inspired us", said Lauren and Lindsey.

Community Involvement Award- Coyotes for a Cure, Whitney D'Attilio, junior, and Maddie Haynes, sophomore, at Clarksburg High School

2017 Students of the Year, Team It ALL Matters!
Led by sophomores Julia Strittmatter and Hanna Sellinger, this incredible team representing The Connelly School of the Holy Child set out on a mission to raise as much funds and awareness as they could for the mission of curing blood cancers! These young philanthropists are determined to change the world and save lives. With the support of their 3 amazing team members, Gabrielle Hanley, Gigi Mcbride, and Winnie Beaudet, It ALL Matters broke local records, raising over $126,000 and holds the title of the 2017 National Capital Area's Students of the Year!

1st Runner up, Kyle's Army!
Led by Our Lady of Good Counsel junior Kyle Fritschi, Kyle's Army is not new to LLS and the mission to cure blood cancers. You may recognize this incredible young man from our 2016 Students of the Year class as he shared his story of bravery and strength battling lymphoma as he began high school. Kyle continues to inspire his entire community and save the lives of others at the same time! He is a true hero to many and by his side is his Army consisting of his family, his team members (Jake Wright, Chris Morris, Chris Lemmo, & Katie May), and his entire community of friends and neighbors!
2nd Runner Up, Attack 4 Jack 2.0!
Led by Amanda Kay, Zoe Holland, and Maddie Ugaz, these Bullis School juniors dedicated their campaign to another one of our incredible heroes and survivors, Jack Creedon. This is the second Students of the Year team who has dedicated their work to Jack who is currently battling leukemia.

2016 Student of the Year, Joe Vermillion!
Joe Vermillion, Team Vermillion Gonzaga High School '17 participated in the LLS Student of the Year Campaign in honor of his father who tragically passed away in 2012 after a 4 year battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Joe was the local and national student of the year raising over $116,000 in just six short weeks!
