Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia has been participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) campaign for 11 years. Last year, the school raised over $30,000 for LLS by holding a variety of events to get the Osbourn Park students and community involved in the fight against blood cancers. The Leadership Class takes on a challenge every year to raise even more money than previous years. It benefits LLS because of the awareness raised and the money donated, but it also leaves an impact on the students, providing them with a lifelong leadership lesson that will stay with them through college and future careers.

Each year, the school has a variety events planned throughout the month of February. Some are athletic-based, including the school’s dodgeball and volleyboy tournaments, and others focus onperforming arts, such as the Talent Show and Battle of the Bands. This diverse range of fundraisers is designed to reach out to as much of the student body as possible, as well as the community as a whole to raise awareness and fight cancer. The students get involved and have a lot of fun with events such as the 5K color run and Spirit Week. Osbourn Park High School looks forward to raising even more money for LLS this year and is excited to introduce some new events, too!
