This year we have 7 students from the Bay Area who are inspiring our schools to help save lives. Here are some of their stories.

 

Nomi Solwren is 13 years old and attends Orinda Intermediate School

Nomi is NOT shy and she really enjoys talking to schools about her experience as a cancer survivor.  Here she is holding a piglet that the Principal of Walnut Heights Elementary kissed in 2015-2016 when the school met their goal to raise $18,000!   Like many girls her age, Nomi has big dreams.  She wants to study marine biology and loves to write, act and cannot get enough trips to Starbucks.  This year she is being honored as the San Francisco Girl of the Year, representing young survivors at the Man Woman of the Year fundraising gala.  Nomi is a big fan of Pennies for Patients because she says her life was saved thanks to donations to LLS.

Haley attends Sinaloa Middle School in Novato and is 11 years old.

Haley loves to laugh and hang out with her friends and family.  She says she'd like to be a flight attendant one day and own her own restaurant.  A Leukemia Survivor, she says If it weren't for the research LLS has done I wouldn't be here today.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meet Brody, a first-grade student at Margurite Han Elementary School in Rohnert Park.

Diagnosed in 2012 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia as a three year old, Brody likes Inspector Gadget, Minecraft and Pokeman.  He says Pennies for Patients is important because it helps other kids like me.
